On January 1, 2009, the City of London played host to the most spectacular New Years celebration the UK has ever witnessed—sponsored by LG. The event saw an estimated 180,000 people party the night away along the River Thames against an incredible sequence of fireworks, centered on the London Eye. Messages of goodwill from iconic personalities such as Rod Steward, Rio Ferdinand, Ricky Gervais, Michael Caine, The Simpsons and UK Gold Medallist Christine Ohuruogu were beamed onto the Shell building via the world's tallest video projection.
LG's sponsorship of the fireworks comes hot on the heels of LG's recent LG Arena and London Freeze sponsorships, all of which are helping to move the brand from being purely a product-driven organisation to one that brings memorable experiences to consumer's lives.
