LG Electronics works with the "Beautiful Store" Foundation to stage the "Beautiful Saturday with LG Electronics" event, during which the company sells around 45,000 items including bags, clothes, books, and household articles, all of which were donated by LG Electronics employees.
In 2006, 150 LG Electronics employees participated in the sale of items as volunteer workers. Among the items donated by employees were a baduk (Korean checkers) board and porcelain, which had been signed by a celebrity. These were put up for auction on the spot.
All proceeds from the "Beautiful Foundation" event were donated to those in need, including youngsters that have found themselves as the main breadwinner at home and senior citizens that live by themselves.
The event gave LG Electronics employees an opportunity to realize wholeheartedly that a company's contribution to society can in fact be carried out by participating in volunteer work.
