LG Electronics is actively involved in volunteer work in its bid to fulfill its responsibility as a corporate citizen.
With the social contribution funds raised by LG Electronics and its employees, the company is able to develop volunteer activities in which employees participate voluntarily.
Participating in Volunteer Work
- The funds raised are invested in volunteer work programs in which employees can participate, such as the construction of special "love houses," free meal services for the homeless or underprivileged elderly people, free computer education for severely handicapped people, plus other various volunteer services for the handicapped. In addition, LG Electronics not only conducts the "Beautiful Saturday" fundraising event and the "Campaign with Love for Blood Donations," but also sponsors children who suffer from terminal illnesses. Every year, when natural disaster wreaks havoc on various parts of the world, the LG Voluntary Service Group is sent out to the affected areas to launch relief efforts and to offer free repairs of electronics products.
Science Class Offered
- Researchers from LG Electronics visit nursery schools and day care centers to offer the "LG Junior Science Class," in which they serve as science teachers for the day, explaining the theory of electronics to children in an easy and interesting manner and encouraging the children to create something though hands-on experimentation. The company also runs the "LG Visiting Science Class" program, for which LG Electronics dispatches a specially equipped vehicle or social welfare facilities to scientifically underprivileged areas in order to put on an electrics show or to provide scientific training.
