Green Program

Green Program Image

In conjunction with partner firms, the company operates what is known as the LG Electronics Green Program, a certification system that encourages environmental awareness in an attempt to reduce hazardous substances in a product and the environmental damages they cause. This program was designed to comply with national and international hazardous substance-related regulations, to offer eco-products to customers, to refrain from using hazardous substances during the production stage of raw materials and parts, and to minimize the negative impact on the environment. LG Electronics and its partner firms aim to establish themselves as environmentally friendly companies. The program has, therefore, targeted all of LG Electronics' partner firms that supply parts, raw materials, and other materials.

Under the standards established by the Green Program, LG Electronics and its partner firms are assessed on their environmental management systems and hazardous substance management methods for a given product. A company that passes the environmental awareness evaluation is awarded a Green Program certificate, giving it the all-important public image of a company that is doing its bit for the environment.

The Green Program Certification is a system that awards a certificate after evaluating the environmental management system and hazardous substance management methods. The three criteria for the certification are the environmental management systems, hazardous substance management, and the product management system. In order to earn the Green Program certificate, a company must score more than 80 points, including the compulsory 42 points. In order to receive the certificate, the company also has to submit the following documents, specified by LG Electronics: Analysis report of environment-related substances, composition table of environment-related substances, non-use certificate, control list of environment-related substances, etc. Once LG Electronics has reviewed the submitted documents and has verified the systems of its partner firms, the certificate can be issued.
