Eco-design refers to the systematic integration of environmental aspects into product design with the aim of reducing the overall environmental impact of a product from start to finish, as well as various other aspects such as the development and remodeling of a product, prices, quality and raw materials, design and production, use, and disposal. After each individual product development has been completed, LG Electronics asks an expert in the related sector to carry out an inspection and resolve any problems before the product is moved on to the next stage of development. Life Cycle Assessment [LCA] is performed at each stage to evaluate the product's environmental impact. This secures the product's environmental suitability and brings forth the design that will further enhance the quality and functions of a product.
Eco-Design Strategy

- Improving efficiency when using resources
- LG Electronics not only reduces the weight and the volume of its products, but also makes more efficient use of resources by using natural or recyclable materials.
- Reducing the use of hazardous materials
- LG Electronics does not use any of the six hazardous substances (lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB & PBDE) with , develops halogen-free flame retardants with ,and refrains from using any substance that is harmful to the human body.
- Improving energy efficiency
- LG Electronics complies with international efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing power consumption and the use of standby electricity.
- Improving recyclability

LG Electronics chooses materials that can be easily recycled; already during the production planning stage, the company ensures that the product can be easily broken down; the company improves the overall recyclability of a product by reducing its number of individual parts.
First, LG Electronics makes efficient use of resources by reducing the weight and volume of a product and utilizing natural or recyclable materials.
