Eco-design refers to the systematic integration of environmental aspects into product design with the aim of reducing the overall environmental impact of a product from start to finish, as well as various other aspects such as the development and remodeling of a product, prices, quality and raw materials, design and production, use, and disposal. After each individual product development has been completed, LG Electronics asks an expert in the related sector to carry out an inspection and resolve any problems before the product is moved on to the next stage of development. Life Cycle Assessment [LCA] is performed at each stage to evaluate the product's environmental impact. This secures the product's environmental suitability and brings forth the design that will further enhance the quality and functions of a product.
- As the first company in Korea to declare a "Cleaner Environment" in 1994, LG Electronics has a decade-long track record of environmental stewardship. As our guiding principles, we have established four key eco-design strategies - replacing hazardous substances, enhancing energy efficiency, improving recyclability and reducing use of resources.
