LG Electronics has reinvested part of its profits in society in various ways. Since 1995, LG Electronics has been deducting less than 1,000 won from each employee's salary and has channeled this money into the "Usuri Fund."
LG Electronics has also provided medical operation services for poverty-stricken children with cleft lip and palate. These children lived in medically-deprived regions of Middle- Eastern and African countries such as Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco, and Kenya.
Cleft lip and palate is a facial deformity that puts a considerable burden on the mental health of the patient as well as his or her family. Plastic surgery is said to be the only cure.
LG Electronics became joint sponsors of free medical treatment, along with the Korean Medical Association, and is currently offering scientific lectures for local doctors all around the world.
