-    16:9 theater screen ratio … Offers maximum 300-inch wide theater-like screen
-    Responding to digital broadcasting with HD screen images…Suggested consumer price around 4 million won
-    Part localization ratio 90%…Submitted total 14 core patents including optical engine
-    To lead growth of home theater market with existing digital TV product line

LG Electronics has succeeded in developing a LCD projector for the home theater (Model: RL-JA10) with the advent of the digital TV era. The new product will be put on sale from end of this month.

The new product has a length:width ratio of 16:9 - wide screen equivalent to conventional movie theater screen and offers HD images to be used for digital TV at home. In the case of existing TVs, mobility was restricted owing to limitation in screen size, installation space, and product weight. But the new LCD projector weighs only 9.6kg so that viewers can enjoy a real home theater experience with a minimum of 30-inch to a maximum of 300-inch wide screen anytime, anywhere.

LGE's home theater LCD projector also comes with a terminal that can easily hook up a separate wireless transceiver. In other words, users do not need multiple lines connecting the DVD player, VCR and other peripheral imaging devices, thereby creating a clean and pleasant interior. In addition, the new product also supports high resolution (WXGA) PC signal input/output so that it can be used not only for presentations, but also for Internet surfing and gaming.

LGE invested a total 30 researchers and 3.5 billion won for 2 years for product development. In particular, by securing independent core technologies in optical engine and low noise design in the development process, it increased the part localization ratio to 90%. LGE currently has submitted a total of 14 patents in and out of Korea.

Along with sales in Korea, LGE also plans to export to North America, Europe and other markets around the world.

The new LCD projector by LGE has three 1.3-inch compact TFT-LCD modules to enable projection of clean and clear images on to the screen. It therefore delivers better images, color and brightness than single module products while drastically reducing the noise level during operation.

The projector is an imaging device that delivers images to wide screen by projecting light coming out of a lamp onto the screen. The projector has been typically used at companies, government offices, and in the military as well as for educational purposes at schools and academic institutions along with small theaters, coffee shops, exhibitions, and religious events. But now with the availability of projectors for the home theater, the demand from households is expected to record growth.
