It can be said that the digital
era is the era of digital broadcasting, the Internet,
and mobile communication. Information for humans can be
delivered through display devices to humans, indicative
of the ever-growing significance of display technology.
With the aim of maximizing profit in the vast and high
potential display market by securing strong technological
edge, the focus of LGE's R&D in the field of display
is centered on CRTs(Braun tubes) and next generation flat
panel displays like, LCD and PDP. We are also redoubling
our efforts in new display areas like organic ELD(or OLED)
and FED to become synonymous with the world's best in
the display industry.
In CRTs(Braun tubes), in particular, we are concentrating
in R&D for low cost and high quality Flat CRT based
on our own perfect flat technology. As for PDP, to secure
technological leadership, LGE is exerting its efforts
to develop affordable, high quality, highly efficient
new processes. In organic ELD(or OLED) and FED, LGE's
continuing focus is in developing core element technologies
that will give us a competitive edge. |

Flat Panel Display
+ Plasma Display Panel (PDP)
To initiate the widespread distribution and marketing of large-screen wall-mounted PDP TV as a
home TV, LGE developed low-cost-enabled technology, low-power-consumption technology
and reliability-enhanced technology.
+ Field Emission Display (FED)
Using the field emission display (FED) with CRT-technology high-definition features in a slim and
light form,LGE developed core essential technology and large-screen-enabling technology.
Projection Display
+ Projection TV
Alongside PDP TV, LGE developed world-class, high-definition, light, and slim projection TV
(representative of the large-screen digital TV) with micro display applications.
+ Projector
Because the projector can display images over an 80-inch super-large screen, and because
demands are shifting from the existing OA/stationary types to the AV/home types, LGE
developed high-brightness and the world's smallest products.
Next-generation Display
+ Stereoscopic Display
Market prospects are bright for entertainment and medical stereoscopic display. With the
expansion of contentssupply and the advancement of technology, corresponding home
demands are also expected to increase. Thus, LGE prepares to go full-blast in the market
by securing essential technologies.
+ LASER Display
LGE developed super high-definition displays that enable natural coloring through the application
of a LASER light source.
+ Digital Paper Display
LGE developed digital paper display where one can write and erase data similar to pen and
paper; such a display is both flexible and portable.
+ Head Mounted Display (HMD)
The corresponding market for large-screen mobile display used in games, AV, and the Internet
is expected to be stimulated. Thus, LGE developed VR and lightness-enabled technologies to
assess its marketability.
