Major R&D Achievements

2009
Developed the 3rd-generation linear compressor.
The highly efficient linear compressor developed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions—now a global issue—is the core component in a refrigerator that can significantly reduce electricity consumption.
2008
Developed the wall oven with a furnace convection feature.
The oven is equipped with the newly developed next generation carbon heater that emits the maximum number of far infrared rays by using carbon fiber. This reduces the pre-heating time and the furnace convection feature also enhances taste.
Developed the world's first shoe drying function (Tromm)
The technology employs a low heat fan that dries shoes without bending them as if they have been dried in the sun. In addition to removing odors, it also disinfects shoes to make them healthier to wear.
2007
Developed the world's first vacuum cleaner with an automatic dust compactor feature.
The compressor plate in the dust cage rotates left and right and compresses the dust to eliminate dust from flying out. This function not only improves sanitary conditions but also increases efficiency.
2006
Developed an in-door-ice system (Dios and French Dios).
The compact ice-making feature was installed in the refrigerator door to enhance the use of space in the refrigerator.
Developed an electric oven with a speed cooking function (maximum capacity: 65 l).
The biggest capacity in its class was achieved by applying insulation and coolant passage technology, and the cooking time was cut in half by being the world's first electric oven to use a halogen lamp.
2005
Developed the dual spraying system (Steam Tromm).
The dual spraying method—LG Electronics' unique technology—was applied to simultaneously spray steam and high concentrate detergent for superior washing capability and different washing cycles. As a result, Tromm received the award for the Top 10 New Technologies in Korea in 2006.
Developed the drum washing machine with a max. capacity of 15 kg.
By applying core technology, the direct drive motor, the highest capacity among equal-sized washing machines, was achieved.
2003
the Dios equipped with a linear compressor and natural refrigerant gas (R600a).
The refrigerator's electricity consumption was significantly reduced by developing and applying straight line drive linear compressor technology.
